Smartphone, Tablet, and Laptop Repair FAQ

1. I JUST DROPPED MY PHONE AND SHATTERED THE GLASS. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO WORK, EXCEPT THE GLASS IS BROKEN/SHATTERED. CAN IT BE FIXED, AND IF SO, IS IT WORTH IT?

Yes! For most models of smartphones including iPhone, Samsung, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, and Nokia, the display can be replaced for a fraction of the price of buying a new phone, and making the backing up and transferring of your data/contacts unnecessary.

For many older model phones, replacing the glass, touchscreen digitizer, and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) as one unit, is the more cost effective repair, as the price of the pre-assembled display unit is cheaper than the extra labor involved in removing the glass from the LCD unit.

For some of the newest smart phones, who's OLED/LCD displays alone are several hundred dollars, then attempting a "glass-only" repair may be suggested. Removing the glass from the LCD display does incur some risk, but depending on the extent of the damage, may be more cost effective than replacing the glass and the display as a pre-assembled unit.

2. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO REPLACE THE DISPLAY ON MY PHONE?

How long a repair will take depends on several different factors. Different model phones are put together differently, and some take longer than others to access the parts we need to replace.

Some phones require home buttons, cameras, earpieces, proximity sensors, etc., to be transferred from the old screen, to the new screen.

If the frame or chasis of the phone has been damaged (corner or sidewall damage), it may have to be repaired before the screen replacement will sit flush into the phone.

How busy we are at a given time can sometimes factor into how long your repair will take. If this is the case, and we are extremely busy, you will be told when your phone is being assessed for repair.

Some screen replacements are very straight forward and can be completed in less than an hour, while others can take several hours or longer, depending on the model of phone and nature of the repairs.

We should be able to give you an estimate of time required to complete the repair upon assessing your phone for repair.
